Fake-a-gamo stitch evening purse

I used the much talked about fake-a-gamo stitch to make a little clutch purse. It's made out of Blue Sky Alpaca and Silk to match my minisweater. I lined it with a cute cotton print (from Purl Patchwork). I was really worried about sewing in a zipper by hand, but it wasn't too hard, and I think it turned out well.

For my top edge (I made it a hemmed edge), I did the last pattern repeat until I had increased many stitches but right before all the wraps and drops. So, this means that the top of my bag is wider than the rest. Combined with the fact that the knitted fabric is not too sturdy, the wideness of the top made it so that I couldn't add a strap across the whole top without it making the whole thing cave in when I hold the strap. Instead I opted for a little wrist loop.

I am THRILLED with how this turned out. I think it's really cute and I was pleased that all the aspects that I thought would be hard -- maybe too hard for me -- like the wraps and drops and sewing in the zipper all went just fine.

Here are a few pictures of the bag and one of the bag/sweater combo in action!
